Faux Painting - Ars Gratia Studio.
Painting is an Ancient Art.
The first manifestation of it was probably created by cavemen as an attempt to personalize their surroundings.
During the Renaissance two major schools of faux painting were formed, the Italian and the French.
The Italian style was realistic but immediate(alla prima), the french style was more detailed and intricate.
Faux painting is a means of replicating natural elements with paint. The old masters developed techniques to replicate marble, wood, lime stones, tortoise shell, plaster, etc. Today with the development of new materials, it can be applied to virtually any surface for the purpose of personalizing and decorating your surroundings.
